Honoring our Members
Each year, MAFP honors three individuals who exemplify what it means to be a family physician by awarding the Family Medicine Physician of the Year, the Family Medicine Educator of the Year, and the “Archie” Award of Excellence.
Awards are presented at the annual MAFP Scientific Assembly. Nominations may be submitted at anytime throughout the year but are due by January 14th to be considered for that year’s Scientific Assembly awards ceremony.

Family Medicine Physician of the Year
The Family Medicine Physician of the Year award is presented to a physician who exemplifies the tradition of the family physician and their contribution to the continuing health of Michigan citizens.

Family Medicine Educator of the Year
The Family Medicine Educator of the Year award is designed to recognize persons who have made outstanding contribution to education for family medicine in undergraduate, graduate and continuing education spheres.

Archie Bedell, MD, PhD Award of Excellence
Each year there are individuals in the State of Michigan who distinguish themselves by their actions on behalf of MAFP or the community at large including local, state, national and international levels. The Archie Bedell, MD, PhD Award of Excellence was established by the MAFP Board of Directors in 2001 to honor such individuals.
