The Michigan Academy of Family Physicians, headquartered in Okemos (Lansing/East Lansing area), Michigan, is pleased to announce its search to replace the current Chief Executive Officer who will retire in October of 2009.

The Academy is a 3,000 member medical specialty society representing family physicians and the specialty of family medicine in Michigan. It is a constituent chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians, headquartered in Leawood, Kansas.

The CEO is supported by a staff of three full-time employees and interns, usually from Michigan State University/East Lansing Campus.

Once again the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians will host their Annual Scientific Assembly at Grand Traverse from Friday, July 17 through Sunday, July 19.

These will include educational seminars on Asthma, Depression, Primary Prevention of Heart Disease, Hypertension, Women’s Health/Maternity Care, Pain Management, and Well Child Care. The remaining programs will discuss Fibromyalgia, Vitamin D, and Gout and Hyperuricemia. The 2009 Scientific Assembly will also feature a topic from the Uniformed Services AFP titled "The Care of Returning Service Members and Their Families: What Family Physicians Should Know."
