Committee on Special Constituencies (CSC)

CSC COMMITTEE CHARGE:
The charge of this committee is to promote inclusivity within the MAFP by increasing representation of special populations' views and interests; to monitor and address issues of current and emerging special populations; to foster leadership and mentoring opportunities among constituencies at the AAFP National Conference of Special Constituencies; to work in concert with other MAFP committees to ensure that all MAFP sponsored continuing medical education programs, including the Annual Scientific Assembly, that it support the principle that such educational programs should address and take into account the unique aspects of diverse populations.

Special populations include: New Physicians (physicians who have been in practice/teaching/administration for seven years or less); Minorities (including but not limited to African-American, Hispanic, Latino, Asian, Middle Eastern, Indian, Native American, Pacific Islands, and Inuit); International Medical Graduates; Women; and Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT).
SPECIAL NOTE:
Currently, the Committee on Special Constituency meets only once a year so Delegates can prepare for the AAFP National Conference of Special Constituencies.
