The "Partnership for Family Safety" is a partnership of three organizations, Meijer, Inc., a superstore that sells everything from produce to pets with locations in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois and Indiana, the Michigan State Police and the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP). The partnership develops, organizes and promotes projects designed to bring patient education materials to the general public in Michigan, often through the offices of family physicians.
The Meijer, Inc. organization assumes the financial costs of producing materials, including the design and printing of each project. The Michigan State Police Prevention Services Section and the Academy work diligently to assemble and distribute all project materials.
The first project was a CHILD ID Kit. These kits provided one central location for a child’s photo, medical information, personal information, DNA sample (hair strand), fingerprints, dental information and physical information – all in a 4" x 5" brochure. The second project was a Calendar Program designed for senior citizens. Each month carried safety and health "tips" for seniors. The third project is a "Safety Belt Awareness Program" – aimed primarily at pediatric age children.
The most recent project is distribution of brochures for senior drivers labeled "How's My Driving". This brochure carries helpful tips about the following topics. Use the pages listed below to educate your older patients.
