Michigan Family Medicine Research Day Recognizes Excellence in Research

May 22 marked the 47th Michigan Family Medicine Research Day an opportunity for researchers, practitioners, and trainees in family medicine, allied health professions and the behavioral sciences to come together in a collegial atmosphere to learn and exchange ideas. 

Thank you to Michigan State University College of Human Medicine Department of Family Medicine for hosting this year’s conference in collaboration with Family Medicine Foundation of Michigan and the family medicine departments at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine, University of Michigan Medical School, Wayne State School of Medicine and Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine. 

The day-long agenda featured a keynote address by Nadia Abuelezam, ScD, Making the Invisible Visible: Arab/Mena American Health Disparities and Healthcare Challenges. Congratulations to members of Michigan Academy of Family Physicians listed below who received awards for their research presentations:

  • 1st Place Resident Poster | Idiopathic Cutaneous Polyarteritis Nodosa | Apote Zekpa with Honor Community Health

  • 2nd Place Resident Poster | Stemi as the Initial Presentation for Fibromuscular Dysplasia | Brian Brzozka and Ori Drory with MyMichigan Medical Center Alma

  • 2nd Place Resident Oral Presentation | Resident Perspectives on a Resident Wellness Curriculum | Alyssa Warburton-Silva with the University of Michigan
