Congress of Delegates held virtual reference committees earlier in September where all resolutions were discussed ahead of in-person deliberations. This year, MAFP submitted two resolutions that were considered by the Congress of Delegates:

  • Res. 401 (Michigan B) – Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (Substitute Resolution 401 adopted in lieu of Resolution 401)
  • Res. 304 (Michigan A) – Valued-Based Payment Transparency (Referred to the AAFP Board of Directors)

In addition to contributing the two impactful resolutions, our representatives joined discussions on more than 40 other resolutions that addressed a wide range of issues. Below is a summary of several key resolutions adopted by each reference committee.

  • Delegates adopted measures reinforcing science-driven vaccine policy, opposing political interference, and urging reversal of recent ACIP changes.
  • A resolution to collaborate with other organizations to address CDC data gaps was referred to the Board. Delegates also called for fair payment for family physicians conducting annual wellness visits.

Practice Enhancement

  • A resolution to reduce administrative burden by changing auto-refill systems to opt-in was referred to the Board.
  • Delegates adopted measures supporting responsible use of AI to reduce burden and safeguard patient privacy under physician oversight.

Advocacy

  • Delegates adopted resolutions urging expanded Medicare coverage for hearing devices and comprehensive obesity management.
  • They also called for greater Medicare investment in primary care and for peer reviewers to hold equivalent board certification.

Education

  • Delegates adopted a resolution to update training guidelines for pain management in IUD procedures.
  • They reaffirmed policy supporting exceptions for medical degrees from new federal student loan limits.
