What Clinicians Need to Know about New WIC Special Request Form and Updated WIC Food PackagesThe WIC Special Food and Formula Request (SFFR) form has been updated to include new food options. It allows health care professionals to indicate WIC food restrictions or substitutions. The former SFFR form should no longer be used; the revised version became effective March 1. See the form here and instructions for using it here. New WIC food types and amounts also begin with clients’ March benefits. You can access a printable flyer here that can be distributed or displayed in your office. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has made science-based updates to WIC food packages — the foods and beverages WIC provides to participants to support nutrition needs during important life stages and foster healthy growth and development. These updates may affect the foods your WIC‐participating patients receive and the nutrition guidance you provide as health care professionals.
