Dr. Andrea Wendling Named to Rural Health Transformation Program Advisory Council

Congratulations to Andrea Wendling, MD, FAAFP, for being named to the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) Advisory Council. In addition to practicing family medicine at Munson Healthcare Boyne Area Health Center, Dr. Wendling serves as Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Director of Rural Health Curriculum at the Michigan State University Department of Family Medicine. The RHTP Council will provide insight on rural health priorities, review program progress and offer recommendations to Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS) leadership.

The Rural Health Transformation Program is part of H.R. 1, known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act signed into law July 4, 2025. Michigan was awarded $173 million through the program, which is meant to increase access to rural health providers while improving outcomes for individuals living in rural communities.
