Future of Family Medicine Conference Offers Networking, Hands-On Training — Register Today

Choosing a medical specialty is a significant decision for any medical student. To support this journey, the Family Medicine Foundation of Michigan—the philanthropic arm of the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians—offers meaningful opportunities for students to explore the breadth and depth of the family medicine specialty. The 2026 Michigan Future of Family Medicine Student Conference & Residency Connection will take place on Sept. 12 at the Sheraton Novi Hotel in Novi, Michigan. Registration is now open here. NEW: M4 Residency Interview Preparation Panel
Designed specifically for fourth-year students, this panel will provide practical insights on preparing for residency interviews, including what to expect, how to stand out, and tips directly from program leaders and residents.

Family Medicine Career Options 
In a round-robin, “speed-dating” format, medical students will connect with practicing family physicians to ask questions and learn about diverse subspecialities and career paths available within family medicine. 

Hands-on Workshops
Gain real-world skills during workshops led by family physicians, residents and residency program leaders. Students will learn and practice outpatient clinical procedures commonly performed in family medicine settings. 

Residency Fair
Meet with representatives from Michigan’s family medicine residency programs as you consider where to continue your training. For rising fourth-year students, this is a prime opportunity to get a last look before submitting your application as the 2026 Match cycle gets underway.
