Congratulations to Nedi Affas for being named one of Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine’s (OUWB) outstanding students for the 2025-26 academic year.  Affas has been active in service, leadership and mentorship throughout her medical education. She volunteered with OUWB’s Student-Run Free Clinic, Corewell Health’s Mother and Baby Unit and Emergency Department, World Medical Relief and several community outreach programs. She also served on the board of the Chaldean American Medical Student Association, worked as a Lead Admissions Ambassador and tutor and served on a public health study abroad program in Ghana.

“These experiences gave me opportunities to learn from and support people from different backgrounds and strengthened my commitment to cultural humility and creating environments where people feel supported and included,” she said in an Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine article.
