Medical students benefit from hearing directly from family physicians and residents about the breadth of the specialty, career opportunities, and what life in family medicine is really like. With support from the AAFP Foundation, MAFP is partnering with the Wayne State University School of Medicine Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) to connect students with family physicians and residents and give them greater exposure to the breadth of family medicine and career opportunities within the specialty. We’re looking for family physicians and residents who are willing to serve as mentors, speakers, panelists, and resources for students. Opportunities may include:
MAFP will coordinate the initial opportunities with the Wayne State FMIG, with the larger goal of building a network of family physicians and residents who can serve as a resource for FMIGs across Michigan. No previous FMIG involvement is needed. We especially welcome those who haven't previously had an opportunity to engage with medical students through an FMIG. Interested? Complete our brief interest form by Oct. 2 and let us know how you'd like to get involved.
