MAFP Annual Meeting

The MAFP Annual Meeting serves as the platform for Family Physicians in Michigan to reflect on successes from the past year and identify the challenges that lie ahead. At the Annual Meeting, members assemble to examine proposed changes to MAFP policy and governance, elect new leadership, and debate issues that impact members.

Call for Resolutions

Each year, MAFP solicits resolutions for consideration at the MAFP Annual Meeting. Any member in good standing is invited to submit a resolution(s), which will be accepted, reviewed and voted on at the Annual Meeting with approval requiring a majority vote. In accordance with MAFP Bylaws, no resolution may be submitted to the Annual Meeting unless such resolution has been submitted in writing to the Chief Executive Officer at least thirty (30) days prior to the meeting at which it is to be acted upon. Late resolution will be approved only by an affirmative vote of two-thirds (2/3) of the members of the Annual Meeting present and voting.

This year's Annual Meeting will take place on Saturday, July 14 from 11:45 a.m. - 1:45 p.m. at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Kalamazoo, held in concert with the 2018 Michigan Family Medicine Conference & Expo.

All approved resolutions affecting the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) will be sent to the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) for consideration at the next convening of the AAFP Congress of Delegates, which will be held this year in New Orleans, LA, October 8 - 10, 2018.

Highlights from the 2017 Annual Meeting

The 2017 MAFP Annual Meeting was held on July 11, at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, in conjunction with the Michigan Family Medicine Annual Conference & Expo, July 9-13, 2017. The Annual Meeting included updates from Academy Leadership, including a presidential farewell address from outgoing MAFP President Robert Jackson, MD, MMM, an academy annual report from Chief Executive Officer Debra N. McGuire, MBA, IOM, CAE, as well as an American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) update from special guest Lynne Lillie, MD, FAAFP, former Board Member of the AAFP. Dr. Lillie also conferred the AAFP Degree of Fellow to five (5) Family Physicians fellows during the AAFP Degree of Fellow Convocation Ceremony.

The official business of the Annual Meeting included the election of the 2017-2018 Board of Directors.
