2021 Year-end CME Events Offer 28 Credits

Sept. 27, 2021 - Need continuing medical education (CME) credits before the end of the year? Family Medicine Foundation of Michigan (Michigan Academy of Family Physicians’ philanthropic arm) is hosting five live, virtual events this fall that are approved for a total of 15 credits.

CME is a cornerstone of American Academy of Family Physicians / Michigan Academy of Family Physicians and has been a requirement for continuing membership since the founding of AAFP in 1947.

AAFP requires that active physician members earn 150 CME credits every three years to be “re-elected” to membership. Dec. 31 is the re-election deadline.

Building an Integrated Behavioral Health Program in Primary Care
Live Webinar via Zoom | Oct. 4, 7-8 pm ET

Experts will delve into how primary care physicians can actively engage in providing integrated behavioral health services. Premature death from mental illness is a problem within the general population. While most of these deaths are due to co-morbid conditions such as heart and lung disease, diabetes, and infectious diseases, individuals with mental health issues have an even greater need for primary care services than individuals without mental health difficulties. Studies show that people with behavioral health needs receive lower quality of care in primary care settings because they often have difficulty navigating the healthcare system.
  • Approved for 1 AAFP Prescribed CME credit.
  • $30 for MAFP members.
  • Sponsored by the MC3 Program, which offers psychiatry support to primary care providers in Michigan who are managing patients with behavioral health problems.
