During the 2017 MAFP Annual Meeting--—which will be held July 11, 12:40-2:30 p.m. at Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island during the Michigan Family Medicine Annual Conference & Expo—special guest AAFP President John Meigs, Jr., MD, FAAFP will confer MAFP members who have successfully been elected this year to the AAFP Degree of Fellow.
The Degree of Fellow recognizes AAFP members who have distinguished themselves among their colleagues, as well as in their communities, by their service to Family Medicine, by their advancement of healthcare to the American people, and by their professional development through medical education and research. Fellows of the AAFP are recognized as champions of Family Medicine. They are the physicians who make Family Medicine the premier specialty in service to their community and profession. From a personal perspective, being a Fellow signifies not only 'tenure' but one's additional work in one's community, within organized medicine, within teaching, and a greater commitment to continuing professional development and/or research.
If you have been elected to Fellow status but have not participated in an official convocation ceremony, you are invited to participate in Michigan's Degree of Fellow Convocation Ceremony during this year's MAFP Annual Meeting. Please contact Christin Nohner, MPP, MAFP Director of Government Affairs, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 517.664.9082.
