Robert Jackson, MD, MMM, a Family Physician from Allen Park, was recently installed as President of the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP), the largest medical specialty organization in the state. At the MAFP Annual Meeting, held July 12 in Bay City, Michigan, Dr. Jackson was elected by the membership to serve a one-year term as President of the Board of Directors.

As a Family Physician at Western Wayne Physicians-Allen Park, an 11-physician primary care practice, Dr. Jackson provides quality medical care to patients of all ages, from newborns to seniors. He earned his degree of Medical Doctor in 1982 from Wayne State University School of Medicine, and completed his residency at Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center.

Dr. Jackson is very active outside his practice. He is a member of the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians, American Academy of Family Physicians, American Medical Association, Michigan State Medical Society, Wayne County Medical Society and the American College of Physician Executives. He is also medical director at Medical Advantage Group, a health care consulting firm that helps physician practices succeed in practice transformation and value-based contracts.

As MAFP President, Dr. Jackson will work with the Board of Directors to help set the agenda for the upcoming year. In addition, he will be one of the leading voices representing Family Physicians on local, state, and national issues.

"Our communities need Family Physicians. Without Family Physicians, healthcare costs explode and healthcare quality suffers. We must get health plans and government to halt this impending disaster,” said Dr. Jackson.
