House Health Policy Committee Undergoes Healthcare Sector Education

MAFP to Present March 22 on Access to Care, Family Medicine

The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) presented on March 8 before the House Health Policy Committee, providing a broad overview of the industry, as well as recent trends and public policy implications. The Committee peppered the presenter with questions ranging from rebates to the overall cost of pharmaceuticals and implications for patients. The full presentation can be found here.

The presentation is part of a series of presentations, commissioned by the committee Chair, given by various healthcare groups in the initial months of the 2017-2018 legislative session to educate committee members on the broad swath of healthcare issues they could confront. On March 22, MAFP is scheduled to present to the committee on barriers that Michiganders experience in accessing primary care, and continued challenges facing both aspiring and practicing Family Physicians in our state.
