Michigan Senate Judiciary Committee Moves Sexual Misconduct Bills

After hearing additional testimony on June 6-7, the Michigan Senate Judiciary Committee voted out the 24-bill sexual assault reform package that was crafted in the wake of the Larry Nassar scandal.

House Bill 5789, which would permanently revoke the license of a healthcare professional who commits sexual assault under the guise of a medical procedure, was amended to also prohibit medical professionals who have been convicted of sexual assault in another state from practicing in Michigan.

Majority Leader Arlan Meekhof indicated that the Senate will consider these bills next week.
