Nearly 80 Volunteers Guide Our Boards and Committees
July 19, 2022 - Volunteerism is the backbone of our Academy, Foundation, and PAC!
THANK YOU to the 79 volunteers who are beginning/continuing their terms of service on the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians Board, Family Medicine Foundation of Michigan Board, Family Medicine Political Action Committee Board, and/or one of seven committees. What an accomplished, experienced, and passionate group of family physician leaders and champions! Here is a snapshot of the diversity, perspective, and expertise they bring to their leadership positions:
- 41 amily physicians in practice > 7 years
- 23 family physicians in practice 7 years or less
- 9 family medicine residents
- 5 medical students
- 1 community member
- 54 completed residency at one of Michigan's 39 family medicine residency programs
- 45 earned their MD or DO degree at one of Michigan's seven medical schools
- 28 completed both medical school AND residency in Michigan
- 36 earned the AAFP Degree of Fellow (FAAFP)
- 21 have at least one advanced degree (e.g., MPH, MBA, MPA) in addition to MD/DO
- 8 completed a fellowship
- 50 are employed at a health/hospital/university system
- 9 are in independent practice
- 33 are involved in academic medicine
- 2 are public health medical directors
