Opioid CME Seminar Arms Physicians with Knowledge and Tools to Combat the Crisis

Registration is Still Open for Four Remaining Seminars

Family Medicine Foundation of Michigan hosted its first Legalities & Realities: Michigan Opioid Laws to Live By dinner seminar in Rochester Hills on August 7—a 3-hour Continuing Medical Education course packed with information and tools for combating the opioid crisis specifically tailored for Family Physicians.

Jodi Debbrecht Switalski, JD, a nationally renowned speaker and expert on the opioid crisis and substance abuse disorders, discussed the reality of the crisis and shared empowering solutions, tools, and best practices to help Family Physicians and their entire healthcare team protect their patients, practice, and community.

“This seminar comprehensively provided me and my residency faculty with the informative tools needed to accurately address our new state requirements regulating opioid prescriptions. Judge Jodi is a dynamic and captivating speaker who continuously kept our attention until her last word was spoken. Absolutely phenomenal presentation!” said Pierre Morris, MD (Rochester).

"I had heard that Judge Jodi is one of the best speakers on Substance Abuse Disorders nationally—and I concur. Being from Michigan, she provided an important understanding of the new Michigan regulations. I came away with a new perspective and practical applications for practice. This was worth every minute of the three hours!" said Karen Mitchell, MD, FAAFP (Southfield).

“Judge Jodi brings tremendous passion and a fresh perspective to the national controlled substance epidemic. Her specific knowledge of the numerous new Michigan prescribing laws provided more insight into the intent of these laws. As both a Family Medicine department chair and a medical compliance officer, her unique insight has given me numerous new tools to help educate and protect physicians regarding this current and very hot topic," said Glenn Taylor, MD (Southfield).

This seminar is approved for up to 3 AAFP Prescribed Continuing Medical Education credits, which fulfill Michigan’s pain and symptom management professional development requirement for prescribers.

There is still time to register for one of the four remaining seminars, each of which is being held at 5:30-8:30 pm and includes dinner. Click here to register for the date and location that fits your schedule!
