Concerned by the decline in routine childhood vaccines due to postponed well-child visits during the COVID-19 pandemic, MAFP joins Michigan Department of Health and Human Services in urging families to get children and adolescents caught up on all recommended vaccines as soon as possible.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, World Health Organization, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, local health departments, and Academy continue to monitor an outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) that began in December 2019 in Wuhan, China, and has spread to other locations globally.
On the recommendation of the Michigan Coronavirus Task Force on Racial Disparities, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer issued an executive directive on July 9 that requires healthcare professionals take implicit bias training to obtain or renew a medical license in Michigan. The goal is to improve equity in the delivery of healthcare.
The Michigan Legislature sent three bills to the Governor's desk this week that require physicians to send all prescriptions, including those for controlled substances, to the pharmacy electronically.
