Family Medicine Interest Groups (FMIGs) give medical students opportunities to explore family medicine beyond the classroom through hands-on clinical experiences, educational programming, and connections with family physicians.

MAFP partners with FMIGs across Michigan to support programming, speakers, and events that introduce students to the many opportunities within family medicine.

FMIG Funding in Action

FMIGs bring family medicine to life through educational events, hands-on clinical skills workshops, and opportunities to learn directly from practicing family physicians. Foundation funding helps student leaders create experiences that may not otherwise be available through their medical school curriculum.

These experiences help students explore the breadth of family medicine, build practical skills, and develop relationships with physicians and peers who share their interest in the specialty.
