MAFP Creates New Committee for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The Michigan Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP) Board of Directors has recommended the formation of a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) planning committee. This is the first step in moving MAFP intentionally toward being a more DEI-centered professional association and expanding leadership opportunities for family physicians.

Serving on the committee are:

• MAFP President Glenn Dregansky, DO, FAAFP (Jerome)
• MAFP President-elect Beena Nagappala, MD, MPH (Troy)
• Frank Animikwam, MD (Petoskey)
• MAFP CEO Karlene Ketola, MSA, CAE
• Delicia Pruitt, MD, MPH, FAAFP (Saginaw)
• Kristi VanDerKolk, MD, FAAFP (Kalamazoo)
• Teniesha Wright-Jones, DO, FACOFP (Southfield)

The DEI Planning Committee held its inaugural meeting on June 5.
