Residents & Students Convening at AAFP National Conference, July 27-29

For three days beginning July 27, thousands of family physicians-in-training from across the country—including nearly 50 from Michigan—will ascend on Kansas City, MO, the site of AAFP’s National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students.

Michigan Delegation

Among those attending National Conference are four MAFP members who comprise the Michigan Delegation:

  • Resident Delegate: Eli Benchell Eisman, DO, PhD, Henry Ford Hospital (Detroit)
  • Resident Alternate Delegate: Mohammed Aamir Saiyed, MD, Central Michigan University (Saginaw)
  • Student Delegate: Sarah Toates, Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine (Rochester)
  • Student Alternate Delegate: Kinsey Vear, University of Michigan Medical School (Ann Arbor)

Resolution Writing

The delegates' duties include are organizing resolution-writing among students and residents from Michigan, testifying and voting on resolutions (proposals for change), and electing national resident and student leaders. If you are attending the conference, the Michigan Delegation looks forward to connecting with you! Leadership Positions

Residents and students interested in elected leadership positions within AAFP and partnering organizations are encouraged to announce their candidacy at the conference, deliver a candidate speech, and participate in the election. Michigan Aisle in the Expo Hall

AAFP's expansive Expo Hall at National Conference features hundreds of family medicine residency programs from across the country, employers, medical missions, and other career resources. Be sure to visit the Michigan Aisle, comprised of 18 or our state's residency programs, located in booths 1702-1721 in the newly designated Midwest section.

Looking Ahead…Fall Student Conference

Medical students have another opportunity to explore family medicine by attending Family Medicine Foundation of Michigan’s tenth annual Michigan Future of Family Medicine Conference on Saturday, Sept. 16, in Novi. The agenda includes hands-on clinical workshops, small group discussions about subspecialties/areas of interest, and exhibit time with residency programs from Michigan and other organizations that support medical students.
