LARA Seeks Physicians Interested in Becoming Expert Witnesses to Review Standard of Care Investigation Cases

The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of Professional Licensing is seeking new expert witnesses to review standard-of-care investigation cases. The primary function of an expert witness is to help the Bureau of Professional Licensing in determining whether a licensee’s actions violate the Michigan Public Health Code. Case materials, along with a set of questions will be provided. A signed written report is required, and each question should have a clear definitive answer. All information provided for review will be confidential and reasonable steps should be taken to ensure materials remain secure. You may be required to testify at an administrative hearing regarding your report and review of the case. Hearings are currently held by telephone conference call.

Expert witnesses are compensated for their time with medical experts receiving $200 an hour for review/consultation and $250 an hour for deposition/testimony. If you have preliminary questions or are interested in becoming an expert witness, please contact Ms. Dina Young at [email protected].
