Koby is in his final year at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine in Kalamazoo. He hopes to match into a midwestern family medicine program, and then work in a practice with a large scope where he can care for patients at every stage of life.

As MAFP’s Student Delegate to AAFP’s 2022 National Congress of Student Members, Koby represented the student voice was successful in proposing several resolutions which were passed by the congress.  This role helped him better understand how impactful it is for family physicians to shape policy, he said.

Koby's prior leadership experience includes mentoring third-year students during their first clinical rotation, providing guidance on note-writing and presentations and developing structured times for lecturing. He also helped restructure core rotations at WMed as part of an interdisciplinary team; has developed research projects in basic science, healthcare access, and clinical medicine; and, as part of WMed’s street medicine program, has written grant applications to shape its future.

Today, Koby is the student member on the Family Medicine Foundation of Michigan Board of Trustees.
