Outstanding Medical Student in Michigan Award

20240Outstanding Medical Student of the YearThe Outstanding Medical Student in Michigan Award recognizes student members of MAFP for academic excellence, leadership, service, and dedication to pursuing a career as a family physician.

This is a self-nomination process. Medical students can complete the online application with a video or written submission. One letter of support is required and should be submitted in the online form.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time student at an accredited medical school in Michigan
  • MAFP student member in good standing
  • Demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, service, and dedication to pursuing a career as a family physician
  • One letter of support from a faculty member of the family medicine department of your campus OR a practicing family physician you have experience with. The letter of support should focus on how the nominee meets the selection criteria.

Selection Criteria

  • Enhances the quality of the community by being directly and effectively involved in community affairs and activities.
  • Acts as a leader within their medical school and among medical students.
  • Stands out among peers.
  • Showcases a passion for the specialty of family medicine.
  • Sets personal and education goals related to advancing in family medicine
