MAFP Resident Ambassador Program  

Michigan map of Resident AmbassadorsMAFP's Resident Ambassador Program is designed to strengthen the relationship between the Academy and Michigan’s family medicine residency programs, nurture family medicine and Academy champions, and enhance communications. We want to know what’s happening at your program, and we want to be sure all residents are connected to Academy resources and support. The goal is for one resident at each of Michigan's 39 family medicine residency programs to be appointed as a Resident Ambassador.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Be a resident member of MAFP
  • Serve as a liaison between MAFP and their program
  • Share news about the program and its residents with MAFP
  • Coordinate an MAFP staff visit (in-person or virtual) for an AAFP/MAFP presentation during a didactic session during the program year
  • Share the resident e-newsletter, and other specific resident news from MAFP/AAFP with fellow residents
  • Serve as a content liaison for the the resident e-newsletter by gathering resident stories, highlighting achievements, or sharing relevant topics
  • Invite non-members to join the Academy membership
  • Gain leadership development, add to their CV, learn how to be a voice for family medicine interests, network with residents of other programs, and gain peer recognition
  • Commit up to 1-2 hours per month throughout the program year
